Description:  Kyanite is a naturally occurring aluminum silicate mineral that is usually blue in color, but can also be white, gray, or light green. It is named after the Greek word “kyanos”, which means blue. Kyanite is found in metamorphic pegmatites and sedimentary rock that are rich in aluminum. Kyanite typically forms as long, thin, bladed crystals but can also appear as radiating masses of crystals. Gem quality kyanite can be a royal blue color similar to sapphire and is highly sought after. Transparent, deep blue kyanite is considered an exotic gemstone and is not often used in jewelry. Kyanite is also a major raw material for mullite, which is used in spark plugs and other refractory porcelains. CLEANSING AND CHARGING Be sure to cleanse your Kyanite when received, and charge with your own energy and intentions. Use your feather fan to waft over it the smoke of purifying incense. Use sound vibrations from a singing bowl, bells, or tingsha chimes while quickly and carefully passing through the flame of a white, blue, or purple candle. Place in a (preferably Selenite or Clear Quartz, just not any kind of metal) bowl on top of a bed of dead sea salt and leave soaking in the moonlight for at least four hours. Remove from the bowl, rinse for 30 seconds in (ideally natural, like a stream or in the rain) running water, then gently dry with a cloth (BE CAREFUL with stones that may easily scratch). Hold in your left hand (if wearing for receiving intentions) or right hand (if wearing for emitting intentions) and meditate your intentions and energy onto the stones for half an hour. Alternatively, cleanse by smudging then holding under running water (or leaving out in rainwater) for at least 30 seconds, dry, and gently place in a bed of sea salt on a windowsill after sunset for a few hours.
